CANADIAN FOLK MUSIC AWARDS ANNOUNCE
ONLINE AWARDS SHOW PERFORMERS

Awards Weekend Apr 10 & 11, 2021

(HALIFAX, March 3rd) The 2021 Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA) is hosting its Awards celebrations online this year, presenting all 20 awards virtually over the weekend of April 10 & 11, 2021. This year, we are pleased to offer all 2021 CFMA events – from the nighttime Awards Shows to the daytime showcases and family friendly events – by voluntary donation, broadcasting around the world. The Awards Ceremony Show performers hail from across Canada, from NWT to PEI, and we are thrilled to present six 2021 nominees on our virtual stage nightly.

This virtual CFMA Awards show will announce the recipients of the 2021 Canadian Folk Music Awards. Our bilingual hosts will review all the CFMA categories, nominees, and announce recipients, including the Slaight Music Unsung Hero Award presentation, along with revealing where our 2022 Awards Celebration events will take place. The Awards Show will be streamed via our website, folkawards.ca (En) and prixfolk.ca (Fr) on facebook and our youtube channel.

Each year, the Canadian Folk Music Awards are held in a different province, showcasing the vast array of talent the country has to offer. This year, the CFMAs are presenting nightly Award Ceremony shows PLUS  a variety of showcases  all online. By airing family oriented events online, the CFMAs are pleased to offer more opportunities for viewers to hear some of the best folk music being produced in Canada today. The nightly shows combine the most loved events of the Canadian Folk Music Awards – the vibrant energy of the live music showcases and the awards gala. The Awards Weekend Shows will capture the true heart of the folk community, while celebrating the nominees and category recipients.

This year, we will be featuring artists from across the nation during the largest annual celebration of Canadian folk music. Hosted by Jean Hewson and Benoit Bourque, a bi-lingual show, a total of 20 Awards, including the presentation of the Slaight Music Unsung Hero Award, will be awarded over both nights, along with the CFMA nominee performances.
