(CHARLOTTETOWN, March 30, 2022) The 2022 Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA) return to Prince Edward Island to host its 17th annual Awards celebrations in Charlottetown this week, and all are invited to attend virtually. Although the 2022 Canadian Folk Music Awards are pleased to be making their return to live performances, all CFMA shows will continue to be streamed via the CFMA website, folkawards.ca (En) and prixfolk.ca (Fr) on Facebook and the CFMA / PMFC YouTube channel, allowing our global audience to watch the awards presentations and performances for free, in real-time.

The three-day long CFMA celebration occurs March 31 to April 2, 2022, with two sets of showcases (The Songs and Stories — Songwriters Nominee Showcase and Tradworks — Traditional Music Nominee Showcase) and two nights of Award Concerts, including performances by 2022 CFMA nominees. This year, 20 CFMA awards will be presented during the two nights of Awards Concerts, held at Charlottetown’s, The Guild, including the Slaight Music Unsung Hero Award presentation, along with revealing where the 2023 Awards Celebration events will take place.

The CFMAs are excited to announce that Alicia Toner, nominated for the 2022 CFMA Solo Artist of the Year Award for her album Joan, will be hosting the Songs and Stories — Songwriters Nominee Showcase, and that Reney Ray replaces Guillaume Beaulac in the lineup.
